GLENDALE

This large Phoenix suburb boasts the highest concentration of millionaires in the entire state, but the average home costs just under $230,000.

How is that possible? As Arizona’s 5th largest community, it’s big enough to offer something for literally almost any budget, but it still has the level of comfort and safety that you would find in a strictly upscale neighborhood.

With over 50+ neighborhoods and subdivisions, you’ll find nearly every style of home imaginable. There are clean condos and row homes for the 20-something crowd or first-time home buyers for just over $100,000. Classic brick ranches and adobe-style homes are prominent family favorites. Several neighborhoods feature modern tri-levels and two-story homes for those who are ready to move up. And subdivisions like The Arrowhead offer posh waterfront properties in gated communities for the communities’ most elite. Regardless of which subdivision you find yourself in, most of the yards feature classic Arizona landscaping designed to conserve water and blend in with the beauty of the surrounding desert and mountains.

As a sprawling community, Glendale offers four distinct, mixed-use shopping and entertainment centers. Arrowhead Town Center has over 170 stores and eateries, as well as five anchor stores, including Dillard’s and Macy’s. Tanger Outlets Westgate is a massive outlet mall that’s perfect for the bargain hunter. And the Westgate Entertainment District is an 8-million square-foot center hosting hotels, shopping, dining, office space, entertainment, and even residential space for those who like to live in the center of the action.

Did you know that Glendale is also Arizona’s antique capital? Historic Downtown Glendale was listed as one of the 10 best places to shop by both USA Today and Sunset Magazine. Here, old-fashioned bungalows have been transformed into rooftop eateries and unique specialty shops. Spanning 10-square blocks, it’s an easy afternoon stroll and a favorite among locals and visitors, alike.

Glendale is not short on educational opportunities for the family who wants it all. The community is serviced by several school districts, including Peoria Unified and Deer Valley Unified. There are 100 schools within the city limits, many of which are private and charter schools.

Last, but not least, Glendale is a bustling community that never disappoints when it comes to entertainment. Whether it’s watching an annual MLB spring training game for the Chicago White Sox, browsing one of the several local farmer’s markets, or catching a free concert series in the park, Glendale is alive with activity and life.
